From the Americana of Brigid Kaelin, the blues of Tanita Gaines, the country sounds to Karen Kraft to the rock of Kimmet Cantwell, the performers for Liva La Diva! run the gamut of Louisville music. Because this event is a celebration of Louisville women musicians, no performer is considered the headliner for tonight. Proceeds benefit MERF. Since 1981, The Musicians Emergency Resource Foundation (MERF), a 501(c)3 Corporation, has granted financial and resource assistance to Kentuckiana music industry professionals in times of need and emergency crisis. The heart and soul of a caring music community, MERF receives applications for aid and then allocates assistance based upon a juried process. Funds for MERF are raised through tax-deductible donations and by live musical events, with the music donated by musicians in the Kentuckiana Area. More information is at www.merfbenefit.org. A Mighty Kindness is an online resource that brings together the sustainable services of our eco-region in order to create a stronger, healthier, happier community.

The mission of A Mighty Kindness is to help support local earth and heart-friendly services in a 100 mile radius of Louisville, KY and forge collective cooperation in order to build a circle of sustainability.

A Mighty Kindness is an online resource that brings together the sustainable services of our eco-region in KY,IN,& OH in order to create a stronger, healthier, happier community. We are putting our faith in a new way of being together…here…where we are…where we CAN affect how we live, the quality of our lives and ensure the quality of our children’s lives!

It is our belief that the greatest hope for humanity lies in a total restructuring of society starting at the regional level. The mission of a “Mighty Kindness” is to help support local earth and heart-friendly services in our region and create collective cooperation in order to build a circle of sustainability.

Our goal is to make it easier to find and connect with the organizations, farmers, businesses,artisans and individuals that are already doing their part to help heal and provide for our community.

In a country increasingly flooded with petroleum-dependent world trade and run by a handful of companies that care little for the welfare of workers, the health of our planet, or the vitality of our communities, it is vital that we regain the connection with our neighbors and support our local goods and services.

There is a better way of being together. Visionaries in our region are already enacting this dream. By supporting these agencies, businesses, farms,artisans and individuals, we are empowering the possibility of a better tomorrow.

Start your Earth Day celebrations a few days early at Willow Park (at Cherokee Triangle) with Mighty Kindness (an online sustainable resource directory).  The event is scheduled for this Saturday, April 19th, starting at noon (until 6:30).  There will be a ton of stuff to do, but you should be real excited about the talent that will be performing.  Teneia Sanders, Tamara Dearing, Leigh Ann Yost, John Gage, and bunch of others are on the bill. Rain date is Sunday, 4/20 (there are some showers predicted, but here is hoping it holds off).

Friday is serving up a number of great options, but I’ve made the decision to head to PHT to see British Sea Power, The 1900s & People Noise. The show starts at 7:30pm and costs $15 bucks. Cory is heading to Cincy for The Weakerthans, Liam Finn, and Christine Fellows at the Mad Hatter in Northern KY.  If those shows aren’t your bag, here are a few other options…
