You shouldn’t be surprised I’m posting about Clutch, as the resident metal-head and lover of heavy music here at Backseat Sandbar. You also shouldn’t be surprised that, after all these years, Clutch still rocks like nobody’s business. Fans of Clutch should expect to hear the hard-rockin’ stoner band exploring their trademark bluesy style to sound more like roadhouse rock. But that is not at all a bad thing. Clutch know their way around their guitars, and it shows. That doesn’t mean I’m not inappropriately stoked that Clutch is likely to sample from their extensive catalog of good, fun, face-smashing rock. But it would be narrow-minded and disappointing for a listener to pass up on hearing what this band is going to unleash on Sunday, simply because it’s new and different. Clutch is Clutch, and it’s pretty freakin’ clutch that Clutch is playing Forecastle X.
