The results are in for the much anticipated LEO Readers’ Choice Awards 2011. The people have spoken. You can read the full list here, but we’ve gone through and picked out the music related categories for our readers. The big winners would have to be Troubadours of Divine Bliss. They managed to place 3rd in the ‘Best Local Band’ category behind My Morning Jacket and Cougar Express. They also came in first in the ‘Singer-Songwriter’ category ahead of Brigid Kaelin and Justin Lewis (even as a duo!). While we’ve never heard of them, it doesn’t mean that they are not amazing. In another surprise upset, Wick’s Pizza placed 3rd in the “Best Live Music Venue” category behind Headliners and The Palace. We were pretty shocked that Zanzabar didn’t make the list, but the votes don’t lie. What is perhaps the most amazing is that the failed music festival Hullabalou ranked 3rd in the “Best Music Festival” category behind the obvious choices, Forecastle and Abbey Road on the River. Hullabalou 2011 was cancelled but the people still seem to be demanding it. Is this a call to revive the festival? Ear x-tacy took home best record store and best place to buy vinyl. Agreed. There wasn’t a music blog category, so no love for 37Flood, The Decibel Tolls, LMN or Backseat, but there was a “Best Blog” category and louisvilleky.com took home the top spot there. Congrats to all the winners.
