LEO Weekly and The Louisville Ballet have teamed up for a Derby Season kick-off party that should seal the deal on your Thunder Over Louisville plans and help raise money for The Louisville Ballet. Let’s Go Crazy at Thunder is an all-evening event taking place April 17th, 2010 at The Louisville Ballet Center downtown (315 E. Main St.), in the heart of Thunder festivities.

Let’s Go Crazy at Thunder is not only a title that serves as a nice complete sentence – it also refers to Prince’s landmark album Purple Rain, the soundtrack to a myriad of parties and proms for over two decades. But more on that later.

The party starts at 6 p.m. Inside the Ballet, enjoy a comprehensive bourbon tasting and opportunities to mingle with some of your favorite hooligans from the LEO and dancers from the Ballet. In the studio, the Ballet hosts a party for the grand unveiling of NFocus Magazine in the Louisville market.

Outside, you can enjoy free catered food from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, an open bar, and live music from regional party-inducing favorites Chico Fellini and The Seedy Seeds. In addition to the fun and merriment associated with unencumbered spirit access, Let’s Go Crazy at Thunder allows you to enjoy North America’s largest annual fireworks display from an unobstructed view, without having to fight the herds of people or deal with the general malaise of trying to find a restroom.

After the fireworks (and here is where the title becomes relevant) Louisville’s destructive live juggernaut Wax Fang will perform Prince’s Purple Rain in its entirety immediately after the fireworks show. No word on if Scott Carney will be incorporating his theremin in “I Would Die 4 U.” You may refer to them as Wax Fang and the Revolution; that is your prerogative.

Guests are encouraged to “dress to impress” (meaning, have fun with your attire, but do a little better than cargo shorts). For ticket and limited special parking information, as well as any press inquiries, call the Louisville Ballet at (502) 583.3150 x229
