Long before Katy Parry came to the air waves, Jill Sobule was the one experimenting and kissing girls. In fact, in August, Jill ripped into Katy for borrowing her title. As an MTV kid in the early 90s, I loved Sobule’s cutesy ode to experimentation. Granted, I haven’t kept up with her since then and have apparently missed albums 3-8, the most recent released earlier this year (and to generally quite positive reviews). Now you get the chance to catch her show at Jim Porters on Oct. 30th.
With Jill comes Erin McKeown. The jazzy cabaret/rock/swing/folkster has toured with Andrew Bird, Ani DiFranco, Josh Ritter, and released her album Hundreds of Lions (out today) on Righteous Babe Records.
