Pitchfork Chooses NBA Finals Game 5 Over Phish

Phish is playing at Bonnaroo on Friday and Sunday, but Pitchfork (by and through posters Tom Breihan and Amy Phillips) is not excited about it.  Instead of the Phish set on Friday, the Pitchfork Guide directs you to Phoenix and Public Enemy (we actually recommend a similar move on our recommened list).  The more interesting Pitchfork choice comes on Sunday when there is no other band playing but Phish.  I’ve seen Phish before, but I’m still going to check them out to close out the fest.  Pitchfork will be in the Cinema Tent watching Game 5 of the NBA Finals.  Bold move sirs (and mams).  I still would trade almost any of these sets to have been there for the Wavves meltdown in Barcelona.

Ha ha…the notion that Phish blows is pretty commonplace among indie aggregators, most of whom have probably never seen the band perform. I agree that jamming out to Phish CD is pretty bunk…but the experience of their live show is most definitely worth checking out ~ as a measure in hilarious social observation at the very least. (I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that my first Phish show was over 10 years ago….eek…)
